The book is the result of almost a decade of work carried out within the UBU lab founded by Piotr Marecki in 2016 at the Jagiellonian University. The lab’s activities are pioneering in Poland. UBU lab’s team effectively combines academic, artistic and technological activities. The team not only creates, but also examines texts, practices and tools of broadly understood digital culture, simultaneously exploring and expanding their possibilities at the technical level. The texts collected in the book are not typical scientific articles, but technical reports in the sense proposed by Nick Montfort. Therefore, this book is intended primarily for readers with some programming knowledge. However, it was not written in a hermetically technical language, but took into account the “human” context of the creation of the works discussed – programs, games, applications, demos and installations. The publication will certainly be valuable reading not only for readers from the humanities, but also for artists and programmers interested in non-obvious contexts of their work.
